Mosquitoes

There are more than 2,500 species of mosquito. Where certain species are present they can be the means of transmission of devastating diseases such as yellow fever, encephalitis and, of course, malaria for which the annual rates of infection are absolutely huge. Thankfully in Europe there's little risk of developing these, but mosquitoes can still cause distressing problems and unfortunately our warming climate is increasingly attracting them to UK shores. It's the female of the species who bite. They need blood for the development of their eggs and find ours particularly attractive. However, they are selective in their choice of donors and are only attracted to those of us who emit a certain natural chemical odour.

For effective protection

When travelling to countries where mosquitoes are particularly prevalent medical advice should always be sought and followed.

The innovative, new Vape Portable Midge & Mosquito Repeller is a battery operated diffuser that will provide protection from the bites of flying insects (including Tiger Mosquitoes) for 60 days anywhere, indoors or out. It's so small it can even be clipped to a belt or a bag strap.

Contains Transfluthrin 7.54% w/w. For one-off treatments, a short burst from the diverging spray of the Vape Super KO2 Fly & Mosquito Killer will be sufficient to clear a 30 cubic metre room of mosquitoes and flies. Contains Bioresmethrin 0.015% w/w and S-Bioallethrin 0.069% w/w. A range of personal repellent creams, wipes, sprays and patches are also available from the Vape Derm Herbal range.
